Description

CMAHC’s Aquatic Venue Public Health Inspector course provides health inspectors with the tools and resources necessary when working with operators to help ensure aquatic venues are maintained and operated safely, in minimizing and/or eliminating imminent health hazards at an aquatic venue, and when recommending aquatic venue closures for imminent health hazards.

The AVPHI course time is approximately 8 hours. Students must pass an exam with a minimum of 75% for certification. The AVPHI Certification is valid for 5 years.

While intended for health inspectors, this course is open to any individual responsible for inspecting public or semi-public pools.
 

Objectives

Students enrolled in this course will learn how to:

  • Use the Model Aquatic Health Code (MAHC) and Annex as a guide to conduct an aquatic venue site inspection efficiently and effectively.
  • About additional tools and resources necessary to conduct an inspection.
  • Effectively build relationships with aquatic venue operators.
  • Identify imminent health hazards at an aquatic venue.
  • Help an aquatic venue operator maintain safe operation.
